F-Team Kayakers Blitz National champs

This past weekend, Funky Trunks F-Team Kayakers Murray Stewart, Steve Bird and Jesse Phillips competed in the 2015 National Canoe Championships in Penrith.

Murray blitzed the field and dominated almost all of his races finishing 1st in the K1 1000, K2 1000, K4 1000 and K1 500 adding a 3rd place finish in the K4 200.

Steve Bird also had a solid outing over the weekend finishing with an individual win in the K1 200, followed up by a team win in the K4 500 and equal 1st in the K4 200 (both alongside fellow F-Teamer Jesse Phillips). Steve and Jesse finished in 2nd place in the K2 200 by just 0.05 seconds after a race-off for 1st place took place between the two F-Teamers and Kenny Wallace and Lachlan Tame.

There was some additional great news coming out of Penrith with all three of the F-Team Kayakers being selected in the 2015 Australian Senior Canoe Sprint Team to represent Australia in this year's World Championships and World Cup events.
